Twang Music Academy FAQ

Q: How old does my child have to be?
A: It depends on the child and the instrument. Some are ready for lessons at a younger age than others. Some children may start piano or guitar at 5 or 6. We can conduct a brief assesment to see if your child is ready to learn an instrument.

Q: Do I have to have an instrument to take lessons?
A: Yes. We expect our students to own the instrument which they intend to learn with. During lessons students are given instruction but it's up them to practice in between lessons to consolidate those skills and improve. 

Q: Do I have to schedule lessons for every week?
A: No. It is up to you when you schedule lessons. It is better to have lessons once a week or once a every two weeks. Most of our students are given a regular time each week when they attend.

Q: May I take more than a half hour a week?
A: Yes! Many students take one hour lessons and some take lessons on more than one instrument. 

Terms and Conditions for Student Musical Instrument Tuition
 
All students must own or have access to a proper working musical instrument, suitable for them to practise at home.
 
The student must spend time between lessons practicing what they have been taught. It is at the discretion of your tutor at Twang Music Academy whether lessons will be continued if little or no progress is being made.
 
Students or their parents or guardians must complete the Twang Music Academy Registration Form. All details are kept privately and in case of emergency. Under no circumstances are personal details used for advertising or promotional purposes.
 
Lessons are conducted throughout the year and do not stop during the school holidays i.e. the end or term or half term breaks, unless specified by your tutor. Please could you let us know, with as much advance notice as possible, if you are looking to  be absent from any lesson and will be away for more than two weeks at a time, Twang Music Academy closes on National bank holidays and Christmas unless you have alternative arrangements organised with your tutor.
 
If you wish to cancel your lesson, students must give at least 48 hours notice to allow us sufficient time to fill that lesson slot and avoid you having to pay for it. To cancel a lesson you must contact Phillip at the shop Monday to Friday 10am – 6pm on 0208 676 0926. At the time of cancellation please ensure to give the name of the student, the lesson date and who their tutor is.
 
If a student cancels frequently or they display unsatisfactory or inappropriate behaviour, their place may be offered to another student.
 
All students must pay a deposit of of £25.00 in advance. Should a student miss a lesson without appropriate notice being given, the cost of the lesson will be redeemed from this deposit and the deposit will then have to be topped up again at the next lesson.

The total registration fee is £39.50, which includes the first lesson. The student then pays £14.50 for every subsequent lesson
 
We ask all students to respect the schools facilities and staff members at all times.
 
Twang Music Academy and its teachers reserve the right to terminate the tuition at any time.

We are closed on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Easter Sunday and Monday, May Bank Holidays Christmas Day and Boxing day. There will be lessons on all other days including school holidays.
